The Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have announced extended support for Pakistani nationals in the UAE, following the UAE’s introduction of a new visa amnesty scheme. This initiative, which started on September 1 and will run until October 31, 2024, aims to assist residents with expired visas in legalizing their status or returning to Pakistan without facing penalties.

The UAE government’s amnesty scheme offers a significant opportunity for undocumented residents, including tourists and absconders, to regularize their stay or exit the country without incurring future travel bans. This initiative is designed to provide relief to those struggling with expired visas.
Pakistani Missions’ Extended Hours
In response to the amnesty, Pakistani diplomatic missions have adjusted their hours to provide maximum assistance. The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai will remain open on Saturdays until the end of October 2024. They are offering services such as the renewal and issuance of National Identity Cards (NICs), passport processing, attestation services, and the issuance of out-passes or emergency travel documents.

Pakistanis, who make up the second-largest expatriate community in the UAE with around 1.7 million residents, are expected to benefit significantly from this amnesty scheme. The initiative aims to alleviate issues related to expired visas and facilitate a smoother process for regularizing their status or returning home.
