The proposed law introduces stringent penal measures, including up to 10 years imprisonment and fines reaching ₹1 crore for organized paper-leak syndicates. Meanwhile, in response to public outcry over heavy-handed policing—which included the suspension of a police constable in Bihar for brandishing an AK-47 against student demonstrators—the Bihar government announced the withdrawal of all FIRs and the release of detained protesters.
