Blue Yonder, an Arizona-based software company acquired by Panasonic in 2021, has confirmed it was targeted in a ransomware attack this weekend. The attack primarily impacted the company’s private cloud services, which it provides to some clients, including major grocery chains in the US and UK. However, its public cloud environment remains unaffected.

The company issued a statement on November 21, 2024, acknowledging disruptions to its managed services hosted environment. While the firm has made steady progress in its recovery efforts, it has yet to provide a specific timeline for full restoration.

The incident has caused significant disruptions in the UK, where Morrisons, one of the country’s largest grocery chains, reported delays in the supply chain due to the outage. Sainsbury’s, another major UK grocer, also confirmed that it activated contingency processes to mitigate the impact.

In the US, Blue Yonder’s services are used by several large grocery chains, including Albertsons (parent of Safeway and Jewel-Osco) and Kroger (parent of Ralphs and Fred Meyer). These companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Other large corporations like Procter & Gamble and Anheuser-Busch have also used Blue Yonder’s services, though they have not issued any statements regarding the attack.

Blue Yonder is currently working to restore normal operations and prevent further disruption to its clients’ services. The company is cooperating closely with affected customers, particularly in the US and UK, to mitigate the impact of the ransomware incident.
